An Elgin man was killed Tuesday night when his motorcycle struck a deer on U.S. 1 near Bookman Road just outside of Elgin.

The S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported Justin Kyle Ellisor, 23, of Smyrna Road, Elgin was riding a 2000 Honda motorcycle southbound on U.S. 1 and struck a deer, causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued down the highway and struck a 2014 Ford pickup truck, the occupants of which were uninjured, according the SCHP.

Kershaw County Coroner David West confirmed Ellisor’s identity and said he was not wearing a helmet when he crashed.
