Vineyard Vines is the newest sponsor to come aboard for the 79th annual Carolina Cup Steeplechase Races, after having been approved by the Carolina Cup Racing Association. And, their arrival will add to the coffers of KershawHealth, which will benefit from the new association between Vineyard Vines and the CCRA.

Vineyard Vines, the Connecticut-based apparel and accessories brand founded by brothers Shep and Ian Murray, is now the official bowtie provider of the Carolina Cup. The high-end clothier is donating an estimated $22,000 worth of bowties that will be sold on-line through the CCRA’s gift shop as well as on the grounds of the Springdale Race Course on race day.

Net profits from merchandise and ticket sales are given each year to from both the Carolina Cup and Colonial Cup steeplechase meets to KershawHealth, which is a non-profit, locally controlled health system that provides comprehensive care for patients across the eastern Midlands of South Carolina.

"We are a non-profit organization and without the generous support of businesses like vineyard vines, we would be unable to fulfill our mission of hosting South Carolina’s premier horse races each spring and fall," said Jeff Teter, executive director of the CCRA.

This year’s Carolina Cup is set for Saturday, April 2, 2011. General Admission tickets are on sale now at the reduced price of $30. After March 19, the price is $45. Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

For ticket and/or other race day information, please call the Carolina Cup race office at 432-6513 or log onto their Website, which is located at www.carolina-cup.org.
