KCSO investigating alleged rape

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is investigating an alleged sexual assault reported Saturday.

According to a KCSO report, a 24-year-old woman said she had consensual sex with a 28-year-old man, but changed her mind and he refused to stop. She said the incident occurred in the man’s car behind the Larry Doby athletic complex after the man refused to pay for a motel room.

She also said she and the man had consensual sexual relations numerous times previously, according to the report. 

The KCSO reported the following other incidents during the period of Aug. 3-9:

Someone stole a self-propelled lawnmower from a Bookman Road, Elgin residence Sunday. According to a KCSO report, the victim said the mower was taken from her porch. She said she’d been home all day, had mowed part of the yard and took a break, intending to finish later. When she returned, she said, the mower was gone.

Someone stole a 1996 Suzuki 500 Woodsman four-wheeler from the yard of a Wildwood Lane, Lugoff residence on Friday. According to a KCSO report, the victim said he found the gate to his yard open Friday morning and the mower was missing.

The KCSO also reported five burglaries, five arrests for driving under suspension, four thefts, three arrests for possession of marijuana, three assaults, two reports each for vandalism, driving under the influence and harassment and one case each of driving without a license, malicious injury to personal property and public disorderly conduct.
