Camden Military Academy was to have kicked off its 2015 football season on Saturday with a home game against Grace Crossing, a home-school team out of the Mecklenburg County area of North Carolina.

Instead, last Friday, CMA head coach and athletic director Will Rice received a call from Fighting Christians’ head coach Jim Mallos informing Rice that Grace Crossing did not have enough players in order to play the game.

For now, the contest will go down as a forfeit. But Rice is hoping that Grace Crossing will be able to field a team and that the contest may be played as some point this season.

As for CMA, it will now open its campaign at home on Friday when the Sandhill Titans come down from Raleigh to Spartan Field for a 4 p.m. start.
