The Thiel-Meyer Animal Adoption Center has grown from a dream to a reality.  The late Judy Thiel, who served as Kershaw County Humane Society’s Board president, and Austin Meyer, a Columbia native and developer of the flight simulator X-Plane, set this project in motion three years ago and the shelter is ready for business.  A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new building is at 128 Black River Road in Camden. There will be pony rides, a corn hole toss, popcorn, Jenga, face painting and Kona Ice. Bring your children and friends and join the fun. The star attractions are the animals, and the shelter will be opened for touring so they can all be seen.

“Adoptions will take place, so bring a big heart and a new home to the precious animals of Thiel-Meyer Animal Adoption Center,” organizers said.
