Sam Kendall’s -- located on 1043 Broad Street, Camden -- opened an outdoor dining area last Wednesday giving restaurant patrons the option of enjoying meals viewing downtown Camden. The iron enclosure was installed by Midlands Tooling in Lugoff by David Woolward. Sam Kendall’s owner Jonathon Bazinet said that having the dining area was something he has wanted to do for years and was inspired by restaurant dining areas in Chicago. “My wife and I were in Chicago and there are many outdoor dining areas in the downtown area. Just about every restaurant had sidewalk dining,” Bazinet said. Bazinet was able to build the dining area after getting a permit and after the chairs and umbrellas for the dining space were approved. “We thought it would be a nice addition to downtown,” Bazinet said. His wife, Kay Bazinet, did the flowers. Sam Kendall’s has been in business for eight and a half years and accepts reservations. The restaurant is open Monday-Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
