Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom, who has maintained a long internal medicine practice in Kershaw County, once served as KershawHealth’s chief of staff and served on the former KershawHealth Board of Trustees, is now the chief medical officer (CMO) for both KershawHealth and Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville. The two hospitals are part of the Capella-MUSC Health Network.

According to a Capella-MUSC Health press release, the new position is part-time, allowing Holmstrom to continue serving her patients in Kershaw County in her internal medicine practice with Sentinel Health Partners.. Her primary responsibilities as CMO for the network will be to ensure both hospitals are delivering the highest possible quality of care. She will work closely with both hospitals’ senior leadership teams and medical staff leaders as well as with newly appointed Capella Chief Medical Information Officer Vishal Bhatia.

“I’m excited to accept this new challenge with Capella,” Holmstrom said in a statement released by KershawHealth. “This part-time role allows me the opportunity to continue to serve my patients at Sentinel Health Partners as well as to be involved in shaping the future of health care delivery in our network of hospitals. I have dedicated my professional life to serving the members of this community. This new combination of roles will allow me to help ensure that the highest quality care is available to all those we serve.”

A graduate of MUSC medical school, Holmstrom will also help to fully leverage the resources of the partnership with MUSC Health to facilitate greater access to care and improved quality for both communities.

A native of Camden, Holmstrom is board-certified in internal medicine as well as hospice and palliative medicine. She has been in practice in Camden since 1996 when she joined Sentinel Health Partners. In addition to her time on KershawHealth’s board and as chief of staff, Holmstrom has held other leadership positions, including chairing the department of medicine.

Holmstrom is currently enrolled in the Physician Executive MBA program at University of Tennessee.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and German, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from Clemson University. She completed a Fullbright/DAAD Fellowship at University of Heidelberg before attending Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where she earned her medical degree. She then completed both her internship and residency at MUSC where she was selected as chief medical resident.
