Columbia Business Monthly recently included Camden native Charlie Banks on its list of “50 Most Influential People in the Midlands.” Banks is the co-founder and managing director of the S.C. Angel Network (SCAN).

According to a press release, the magazine compiles its list from a variety of sources, including community nominations, news reports and its own research. The list is representative of the people who “made things happen” during the previous year in the areas of business, government, nonprofits, sports, the arts and healthcare.

Banks co-founded SCAN with fellow managing directors Matt Dunbar and Paul Clark. He is managing director of Capital Angels, SCAN’s Midlands affiliate, which launched in 2014.

“Charlie has done a fantastic job launching and growing the Capital Angels in the Midlands and helping us drive the growth of SCAN across the state -- which is vitally important for supporting entrepreneurs in South Carolina,” Clark and Dunbar said in the press release. “He is certainly deserving of being named to the 50 Most Influential List and we’re proud to have him on our team.”

Banks currently lives in Newberry with his wife and two children.
