Quick response to fire saves property, lives

On Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, we experienced what could have turned into a catastrophic event if it had not been for a quick response from our local Blaney Fire Department, Doby’s Mill, Lugoff, Columbia, and Pine Grove fire departments and the S.C. Forestry Commission. The wind was a major factor that day in trying to contain the fire and keep it from spreading.

Thank you to all of the firefighters, volunteer firefighters, neighbors, friends, family, and all who were involved in helping to contain the fire. Also, we want to thank all of those who wanted to come help fight the fire but could not get onto Chestnut Road.

While we were fighting to save our property, one of our neighbors suffered the devastating loss of their home and other property and another neighbor suffered extreme burns and was transported to the Augusta Burn Center. We are sad and hurt by the loss and injuries of our neighbors. Please keep them in your prayers.

Again, thank you and we are forever grateful to all who helped and wanted to help in our time of need.
