Camden’s Randall Bock and Steve Phillips of Lugoff  teamed up to win Saturday’s Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail bass fishing event held on Lake Wateree.

Saturday morning dawned bright and early as 70 teams lined up to take their crack at the $5,000 first place prize. Also on the line was more than $7,000 in points money including a check for over $3,000 to whoever could claim the 2016 points title.

With heat index hovering near triple digits, the fishing on Wateree proved to be just as hot as 43 teams bringing in a five-fish limit. Leading the pack was the team of Phillips and Bock with a total haul of 22.85 pounds. Included in that figure was the day’s big fish which checked in at 5.92 pounds.

For their efforts on the day, the duo split nearly $6,000 in prize money.

Finishing second was the team of Joey Bramlett and Barry Holloman, both from Darlington County, who weighed 21.65 lbs and claimed a $1,500 purse. Coming in third was the team of Rick McLean of Dalzell and Billy McIntosh, from Wdgefield, who brought 19.84 lbs to the scales to claim $1,000.

Camden’s Chad Rabon and his fishing partner, Walt Almond of McBee, came in fourth place with a total haul weighing in at 19.44 pounds.
