Air Force Airman Brandon T. Felder, whose mother, Deborah Felder is a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School, recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Felder completed an intensive eight-week program which included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Felder, an Eagle Scout, graduated from Ridge Spring-Monetta High School in 2015.

His parents, including his father, Ron, live in Batesburg.

Champion Johnson of Bethune and Hunter Smith of Lugoff were among 104 men and women commissioned into the Army from The Citadel in May.

Family, friends, faculty and staff assembled at the campus’ Summerall Chapel to honor the newly commissioned officers.

The commissioned cadets took oaths accepting their appointments as officers in the U.S. armed services.
