KershawHealth names new Chief Operating Officer

Susan Burroughs, FACHE, has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) at KershawHealth, according to Chief Executive Officer Terry Gunn, FACHE. As Chief Operating Officer, Burroughs will have operational oversight for much of the health system’s ancillary clinical services and support services.

Having worked in hospital leadership roles for 27 years, Ms. Burroughs brings significant experience to her new position and has a proven track record of service growth and quality care. Burroughs comes to Camden from Charleston where she served as Vice President Provider Solutions for Resource Partners, LLC. Prior to that, she served as Associate Chief Operating Officer for HCA, Inc.’s Corporate Executive Development Program in Nashville, TN and Associate Chief Operating Officer for Trident Medical Center in Charleston.

Ms. Burroughs earned her B.S. in biology from California State University in Northridge and her M.H.A. (Master’s in Health Administration) from the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development in Los Angeles and was chosen Dean’s Merit Scholar. She has earned certifications in Six Sigma Green Belt from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, LEAN Healthcare from the Belmont University, Jack C. Massey Graduate School and Management of Ambulatory Care Systems from the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development.

Susan has worked with clinicians, physicians, hospital staff and communities providing healthcare leadership to improve patient experiences and outcomes. We are very excited about the addition of Susan to our Senior Leadership Team.”

Burroughs is actively involved with various national and local organizations and boards that focus on health, financial empowerment, workforce development and the arts. Her hobbies include music, theater, traveling, golfing and being healthy.
