The Chronicle-Independent is pleased to announce Katrina Moses has joined the staff of the Chronicle Independent as a staff writer.

Moses will be covering Kershaw County Government, as well as various features and general assignment duties. A native of Summerville, Moses graduated from Ashley Ridge High School before attending Francis Marion University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications.  While she was at FMU, Moses not only wrote for the university newspaper but completed several successful internships with newspapers and television stations around the state, most recently with Summerville Communications. She has also been doing freelance work for the The News in Kingstree.

“I first met Katrina when I was a staff writer at the Journal Scene in Summerville and she was completing a high school job shadowing project,” C-I Editor Jim Tatum said. “Even then, I was impressed with her intelligence, enthusiasm and personality. Later, she did a college internship with Summerville Communications and did very well. So I am very pleased that she has joined us here and I am confident Kershaw County is going to really enjoy getting to know her – and I know she is going to do terrific work here.”

Moses, who is the youngest of three children, said she is excited about coming to live and work in Camden and Kershaw County.

“I am excited to start living on my own, here in a city that is warm and full of different treasures,” she said. “I am thankful for this opportunity – I believe this is the ideal job for a journalist right out of college.”
