NC's Cunningham finalist for Mr. Football

North Central running back/defensive back Cedrick Cunningham has been named as one of five finalists for South Carolina’s Mr. Football.

The list was announced on Wednesday.

Cunningham (6-0, 200), a three-year starter for the Knights, will head into next Friday’s game in Chesterfield having rushed for 963 yards on 123 carries while having scored 11 touchdowns on the ground. Cunningham has also caught six passes for 81 yards and a touchdown while having completed three of his nine pass attempts for 81 yards and a touchdown for Louis Clyburn’s 3-4 squad.

Cunningham has also returnsed two punts for 63 yards and has a pair of kickoff returns for 57 yards. His 1,164 yards in total offense makes up better than 43 percent of NC’s total offense this season.

On the other side of the ball, Cunningham’s 38 tackles --- with 16 solo stops --- are second on the team while he leads the squad with four passes broken up. He also has been credited with 1.5 quarterback sacks and a caused fumble.

The other finalists for the award are Wando receiver OrTre Smith, Northwestern quarterback Gage Moloney, Broome linebacker D’Marco Jackson and Greer center Noah Hannon. 

The award will be announced at halftime of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South Football game in Myrtle Beach on Dec. 10.
