With his team having played two games in six days and with the South Carolina High School League pushing the first round of the state playoffs by another week --- to Friday, Nov. 18 --- North Central has decided to move Friday night’s scheduled home game with Buford.

The new playing date will be Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Knights Stadium in Boonetown. The game will now be the regular season finale for both teams while also serving as Senior Night for North Central.

Last week, due to the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, the SCHSL decided to delay the first round of the playoffs until Nov. 11. When many schools in and around the Pee Dee, Grand Strand and Lowcountry areas did not return to class this week, the organization decided to add another week in order for teams to complete their regular seasons by Friday, Nov. 11. The state football championships will now be held on Dec. 16 and 17.

While most Midlands teams had last week off due to weather, NC traveled to Cheraw last Thursday and fell to the Braves.

“Due to the effects of Hurricane Matthew and what has become two shortened weeks of preparation for our football team,” said NC head coach Louis Clyburn, “the home football game with Buford has been postponed until Friday, Nov. 11. The past two weeks have been slightly chaotic and, hopefully, this will allow for some to return to a normal routine.”
