Some of the nation’s best collegiate golfers will make their way to the Camden Country Club for the two-day Camden Collegiate Invitational to be played on Saturday and Sunday over the Donald Ross-designed layout.

The event, which is hosted by the University of South Carolina golf program, will feature the Gamecocks along with Xavier, James Madison, Harvard, USC-Upstate, Wofford, Francis Marion, Charleston Southern, Dartmouth, Presbyterian, Gardner-Webb, Furman, High Point and USC-Aiken.

Saturday’s first round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and will continue to the second round. Sunday’s third and final round will tee off from the 1st and 10th tees beginning at 8 a.m.

The Gamecocks are coming into this weekend’s tournament following a layoff after they finished fifth in the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Sept. 25 in fifth place after shooting a final round 290 (+6) to finish the tournament at 13-under-par (839).

The Gamecocks finished the tournament with 49 birdies, including 11 on the final day. Carolina finished third in the field in par-3 scoring average (3.10, +6) and fourth in the field in par-4 scoring average (4.03, +5) and led the tournament field with 183 pars.

USC sophomore Scott Stevens (Chattanooga, Tenn.) stayed hot for the Gamecocks, shooting a final round 66 (-5) en route to runner-up medalist honors. Stevens has played four-straight rounds in the 60s, beginning with a final round 69 the Carpet Capital Collegiate.

The Camden Collegiate Invitational is free and open to the public.
