A trio of Camden residents helped the Red Roses tennis team, based out of Rock Hill, to the USTA Southern Sectional 65-plus tennis title. The tournament was held in Little Rock, Ark.

The team, which plays in Midlands County Tennis USTA League, competed in mixed doubles, 7.0 classification.

Among the team’s members were Camden’s Pam Skiles, Pat Truesdale and Diana Wenman.

Over the summer, the Red Roses played seven matches against their Sun City opponent, winning four of those, while becoming the MCTL Mixed Doubles 65+ 7.0 Champions. That qualified the team to play in the South Carolina State tournament held in Florence, which they won to punch their ticket to Little Rock.

Eight members of the Red Roses made the trip to the USTA Southern Sectional played on Nov. 2. The Palmetto State entry defeated a pair of teams from the host state as well as squads from Alabama and Mississippi to win the sectionals as the Red Roses were the only team that was undefeated in the final stop for USTA squads.
