BRANDON HILL HOLDS his championship trophy after having tied for the Region X golf tournament medalist honors for Spartanburg Methodist College.

Former Lugoff-Elgin standout and current Spartanburg Methodist College sophomore Brandon Hill helped lead the Pioneers to the Region X Fall Golf Championships hosted at River Falls Plantation in Duncan last month.

Hill tied SMC teammate Zachary Herold and Frankie Lin of Richard Blanc Community College for medalist honors in the two-day, 36-hole event with even-par 144 scores.

Hill fired an opening round, 1-under par 71 before shooting a 73 on the second day. The event marked his first individual championship finish as a college player.

This is the fourth consecutive Region X Championship for the Pioneers who undefeated in NJCAA play this year. In 2015, they also won the region and were awarded an at large bid to the National Championship in Melbourne, Fla.

A 2015 Lugoff-Elgin High graduate, Hill was a four-year starter on the golf team for Mike Robinson’s Demons. He was named as the Region 4-4A player of the year in the spring of 2015 after having committed to play golf at Spartanburg Methodist in January of that year.
