Camden and Kershaw County have long been known for all things equestrian. From the hunt to the Cup, from trail riding to barrel racing, this place is horse-crazy -- has been for a long time -- and we believe that’s a good thing.

So it’s nice to be able to add another equestrian-related activity to our already long and impressive list of equestrian-related activities: the EQUUS Film Festival. Now in its second year in Camden, the festival, which will be held in Camden Friday and Saturday, is a weekend of movies, documentaries and short films showcasing all things horses.

As we try to branch out and grow our economy, especially in the tourism sector, it is especially good to see such an event, one of international stature and prestige, come to our community. That EQUUS has chosen Camden not once but twice over such places as Aiken, Charleston and Tryon not only speaks volumes about our vibrant and important equestrian scene but also says something especially positive about Camden and Kershaw County as a truly worthy destination.

This community is fortunate to have a number of smart, dedicated people working very hard to make things like this happen and we thank them for their extraordinary efforts.
