Students honored for essay entries

Caitlyn and Amanda Coleman placed first in their age/grade category for the essay topic, “Youth Leadership: The Key to Advancing the Dream.”

The essay contest was organized by the Dunedin, Fla., Public Library as part of a Diversity Week observance. The winners were announced at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast and March Jan. 15.

Caitlyn, 10, and Amanda, 7, are the granddaughters of the late Henry and Creola (Betty) Drakeford and the nieces of Cornell and Bessie Izzard of Kershaw. Their parents are Sabrina and Jerome Coleman II.
