DAR Scholarship Luncheon March 9

The Hobkirk Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, NSDAR will hold its 2017 Scholarship Luncheon at noon on March 9 at Springdale Hall Club in Camden. 

Dr. Robert Kiger, guest speaker, will present a talk titled, “The Great Awakening,” drawn from the Pre-Revolutionary War period in the American colonies.  He will address the national consciousness in the fledgling country with quotations from great patriot forefathers. These will be shown to correlate with poems from his published book, “Ponderings Along the Way.” inspired by this developing democracy.

Dr. Kiger completed his undergraduate work at the University of South Carolina. He received his M.D. at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he also became Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.   He and his wife Shirley moved to Camden in 1983 where he began a cardiac program for Kershaw County Medical Center. He practiced both solo and as a member of the South Carolina Heart Center until retirement 10 years ago.

Bob is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, The Explorerers Club International and is a recipient of recognition in the St. Luke’s Society. He has published a novel, a book of poems and 19 articles in medical literature. 

The luncheon cost is $35 per person, and is open to the public. Please mail checks by March 6, payable to Hobkirk Hill Chapter NSDAR.
