In 2016, the School Improvement Council of Camden High School (CHS) created the CHS Hall of Fame to honor alumni whose accomplishments, deeds and character exemplify outstanding achievement in their life’s work and/or service to their community. This award may also honor individuals who did not graduate from CHS, but who have significantly and consistently contributed to the school’s work and mission. Graduates of Jackson High School may also be nominated for this award. Nominations will be kept confidential.

Considerations for Eligibility:

• For a nominee who is an alumnus of Camden High School, the nominee must have graduated from Camden High School at least five (5) years prior to the nomination.

• The nominee must have a special achievement(s) in their area of specialty (ex. Business, Education, Law, Medicine, Athletics, Arts/Entertainment, Humanitarian/Service, etc) and/or have received honors, awards, or other recognition on a local, regional, national, or international level.

• The nominee has demonstrated outstanding and significant leadership, character and service to their community.

• The nominee has rendered valuable service to Camden High School, its students, faculty or mission, in a meaningful and significant manner.

• Nominations for posthumous awards will be accepted.

Nominators should keep CHS’ mission mind:

“The mission of Camden High School is to graduate students who are confident, competent and responsible citizens by creating a positive school environment where staff, parents and community form an alliance to provide effective educational experiences in order for students to reach their maximum potential in an ever-changing global society.”

All nominations must be submitted and postmarked by June 1 and addressed to Dan Matthews, Camden High School, 1022 Ehrenclou Drive, Camden, SC 29020. Nominations and supporting documents may be emailed to

The inaugural CHS Hall of Fame class, inducted May 12, 2016, included William “Billy” Ammons, Mary Ann Blaskowitz, John Coke Goodwin, Dimetry “Vonnie” Holliday, Robert J. “Bob” Sheheen, Ralph Warren and (posthumously) S.C. Gov John C. and First Lady Lois Rhame West.
