The Lugoff-Elgin boys soccer teams traveled to Camden Monday to take on the Bulldogs and scored a two-game sweep of the hosts at Zemp Stadium.

The visiting Demons took the junior varsity match, 8-0. Dean Kahn had a three-goal hat trick for the guests while Lucas Gold and David Platt had two goals each. Andrew Platt added another goal in the shutout victory.

In the varsity contest, the Demons doubled up Camden, 4-2.

Chris Platenberg had the first score against the rival Bulldogs. That was followed by a penalty kick goal by Brennen Jones, who would add a second goal, coming off an assist from Randy Gold. Jones then achieved a hat trick, tallying his goal of the night.

Even though morale dropped when the Demons received three yellow cards, they still pulled out the victory.

Tuesday night, L-E hosted the Spring Valley Vikings.

Kahn had the only goal for the hosts in a 3-1 loss in the junior varsity contest.

The visiting Vikings made it a clean sweep in edging the Demons, 2-1, in double-overtime.

The Varsity team followed with a tough, but close 1-2 loss after double overtime.

Robert Frame had the lone goal for the hosts, which was matched by the Vikings, sending the 1-1 tie into overtime. The Vikings got their goal in the eighth minute of the second extra session to clinch the win.

Saturday night, the L-E varsity team will take to the road for their second meeting of the season against Dreher, this time in Columbia. That match is set for a 6 p.m. start.
