Dogfest has a full day of activities on tap

DogFest: A Celebration of Being a Camden Bulldog, will be held on Saturday, March 25 at Camden High’s Legion Field.  

The annual event is planned to offer a fun day for all ages. The day will feature a baseball tripleheader with the host Bulldogs taking on Lugoff-Elgin along with a special ceremony honoring the late CHS baseball standout Garrett Dabbs.  

The junior varsity game will kick things off at 11 a.m. with the varsity game set for a 1:30 p.m. start. The B team game will cap the day with a scheduled 3:30 p.m. first pitch. 

All KCPR&D baseball players in uniform will be admitted free of charge.

Buster the Bulldog Mascot will entertain the fans throughout the day and an inflatable jump house and an inflatable slide will be available from noon until 4 p.m. 

A welcome reception for new Camden High head football coach and athletic director, Brian Rimpf and family, will begin after the conclusion of the jayvee game (at approximately 1:30 p.m.). 

The dedication of the new baseball practice infield as the Garrett Dabbs Practice Infield will be held after the varsity game. Dabbs was the catcher and captain of Camden’s 1988 and 1989 AAA state championship baseball teams.    

A highlight of DogFest will be a “Diamond in the Rough” game for all ages will be played after the varsity baseball game. There is no cost to participate in “Diamond in the Rough.”  

Eggs will be scattered around the infield for this contest.  The participant who finds the “diamond” egg receives a $50 gift certificate.    

Admission to DogFest is $5.  Concessions will be sold at CHS baseball’s Bulldog Café and BBQ plates and sandwiches from Ronnie’s Ribs will be on sale with Kona Ice being on hand to sell shaved ice.
