Camden First UMC 19th anniversary Sunday

Rev. Dr. Charles L. Johnson

Camden First (formerly known as Trinity) United Methodist Church is celebrating its 19th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rev. Dr. Charles L. Johnson will be the guest speaker. A retired United Methodist Church minister, he is a native of Charleston. He is the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. A.L. Johnson. He attended Charleston County public schools where he graduated from Bonds-Wilson High School.  He is a graduate of Claflin University, ITC-Atlanta and Boston University.  

Dr. Johnson was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Claflin University.  He served on the following appointments in the South Carolina United Methodist Conference:  Greer Circuit, Claflin University as staff, Clover Charge, Mt. Zion-Kingstree, Superintendent-Rock Hill District, Clemson, Director of Conference Council of Ministries, and Superintendent-Greenville District. He has been active within the denomination serving on agencies at all levels.  

Dr. Johnson is married to the former Deloris Williams of Barnwell.  They are the parents of three children and four grandchildren.
