Dogs, Demons and Knights going back to wooden bats

The eight-team Kershaw-Richland Spring Break Wood Bat Baseball Tournament will kick off its four-day run on Monday at American Legion Park on Monday, April 10.

No aluminum bats will be allowed to be used throughout the tournament as high school players will step back in time to a day when wooden bats were the norm at all levels of baseball.

The Camden half of the bracket will include Camden, Lugoff-Elgin, North Central and Richland Northeast.

The Richland portion of the bracket, includes Dreher, Chapin, Ridge View and Crestwood, will be played at Memorial Stadium in Columbia with the varsity teams being cross-bracketed for Thursday’s final day of the event.

Here is the schedule of games involving KC teams:

Monday: Noon: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Dreher JVs; 2:30 p.m.: Camden vs. Chapin JVs; 5 p.m.: Camden vs. Richland Northeast; 7:30 p.m.: Lugoff-Elgin vs. North Central

Tuesday:  Noon: Camden vs. Dreher JVs; 2:30 p.m.: Lugoff-Elgin vs., Chapin JVs; 5 p.m.: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Richland Northeast; 7:30 p.m.: Camden vs. North Central

Wednesday: Noon:; 2:30 p.m.: North Central vs. Richland Northeast; 5 p.m.: Camden JVs vs. Lugoff-Elgin JVs; 7:30 p.m.: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Camden

Thursday (at Memorial Stadium in Columbia): 10 a.m.: Kershaw 4th place team vs. Richland 4th place team; 12:30 p.m.: Kershaw 3rd vs. Richland 3rd; 3p.m.: Skills competition; 4 p.m.: Kershaw 2nd vs. Richland 2nd; 6:30 p.m.: Kershaw 1st vs. Richland 1
