The United Way of Kershaw County is accepting applications for funding from non-profit organizations that provide local services in Kershaw County. The organization must have tax exempt status with the IRS, have existed for a year and be a private non-profit organization. They must also demonstrate that they are providing a service to the community. Nonprofits county-wide are encouraged to apply.

“If they can demonstrate those things, we are very interested in funding programs county-wide that make a difference,” UWKC President Donny Supplee said. “If there are agencies that want to apply for funding, they can get in touch with me, as soon as possible. The application ... asks the impact they plan to make, and that they have been making, in our community.”

Nonprofits interested in applying will also need to demonstrate the impact they are making in at least one of the UWKC’s four areas of focus: Health and Hunger, Education, Financial Stability and Homelessness

“We aren’t interested in duplicating services but in expanding services that cover our entire county” Supplee said.

The UWKC has added six new partner agencies over the previous four years. For more information on how to apply, call Donny Supplee at the UWKC at (803) 432-0951. Applications are due May 10.
