We would like to offer our heartiest congratulations and deepest thanks to Polly Lampshire, who was recently recognized by the Hobkirk Hill Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for her extensive contributions to this community.

Polly Lampshire is one of those people who sees needs and quietly handles them. She makes nor seeks any fanfare; she only wants to make good things happen -- and she does. She has been involved in numerous preservation efforts over the years, from her leadership in efforts to have Mulberry Plantation designated as a National Historic Landmark -- which was achieved in 2001 -- to serving as chairwoman of the Price House Commission.  She has also been a major presence and force in this area’s equine community.

There is not nearly enough space here to list her qualities as a person and her accomplishments in our community. Suffice it to say that Camden and Kershaw County is most assuredly a better place because of her presence and her contributions.

Thank you very much, Mrs. Lampshire -- and congratulations on a well-deserved accolade.
