Take a Child Fishing tourney on tap Saturday

The 34th annual Take a Child Fishing Bass Tournament, in memory of Lib and Tommy Phillips, will be held on Saturday, May 20 at Clearwater Cove Marina on Lake Wateree.

Boats can take to the water at 6:30 a.m. or, at safe light from any location on the lake. Weigh-in will begin at noon at Clearwater Cove Marina. There is a five-fish limit per boat with a 14-inch minimum weigh-in length. Trolling, can poles and live bait are prohibited.

The entry fee is $30 per two-person team.

Registration will also take place on Saturday at Clearwater Cove Marina until 6:30 a.m.

Trophies will be awarded to the top 20 finishing teams while there will also be awards presented to big fish winners. Expenses resulting from the holding of the tournament must be paid from prize money. The remainder of the money will be awarded to the winners.

The two-person team must include one child --- maximum age of 16 --- and one adult, who will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the child throughout the event. All boaters must wear a life vest while the big motor is running. 

All South Carolina Fish and Game rules and regulations will apply to the event.
