FAC registering students for summer classes

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County is now accepting registrations for its summer classes and camps. There is something for all ages, so be sure to visit the FAC’s website to see all the opportunities to learn and grow in the arts.

Summer classes and camps include:

Stage Combat with Robert Carroll (ages 13 & up)

Meets outside behind the Shull Pavilion on Saturdays June 17, June 24, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5, August 12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Cost per class: $10. Register by previous Wednesday of each session.

Pre-school Art Camp with Missy Ward & Marilyn Morgan (ages 4 to 6)

Each two-day session has its own unique theme.

July 10 & 11, Monday & Tuesday, California, 9 a.m. to noon; July 12 & 13, Wednesday & Thursday, Japan 9 a.m. to noon; Cost per session: $45.

Register by June 30.

Adult & Teen Evening Clay with Debra Gregory

July 10, 17, 24, 31; August 7, 14.Monday evening, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost per session: $115 + $25 per bag of clay.

Register by June 30.

Art Camp Senior with Cat Lloyd (rising 4th -7th graders)

July 17-21, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost per session: $160

Register by July 13.

Let’s Pretend Theatre Camp with Amanda Britt (rising 1st-4th graders)

July 17-21, Monday through Friday,9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost per session: $150

Register by July 14. 

Art Camp Junior with Cat Lloyd (rising 2nd-4th graders)

July 24-28, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost per session: $130, Register by July 20.

“Oh, the Drama!” Theatre Camp with Amanda Britt

July 24-28, Monday through Friday. 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost per session: $150

Register by July 20.

Funny by Friday with Frank Thompson (rising 7th - 12th graders)

 July 31-August 4, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4p.m. Cost per session: $150 

Register by July 26.

Adult & Teen Day Clay with Debra Gregory

July 31-August 11.Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to noon. 

Cost per session: $135, clay and materials included.

Register by July 26.

Kelley’s Fine Arts Summer Dance Camp (ages 2 & up)

 July 31-August 3, Monday-Thursday 3:30 to 4 p.m., 1st grade & older clogging 4 to 4:30 p.m. 6 yrs. & older tap,

4:30 to 5 p.m. 6 yrs. & older ballet, 5 to 5:30 p.m. 

5K-2nd grade jazz/hip-hop

5:30 to 6 p.m. 3rd grade & older jazz/hip-hop.

6 to 6:30 p.m. 2-5 yr. olds tap and ballet. 

Cost per class: $40, $20 for each additional class.

Kelley’s Fine Arts Summer Camden Princess Camp (ages 4-9)

August 7-10, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Cost per session: $60. Register online at www.kelleysfinearts.weebly.com or email KFA at kfadance@yahoo.com

Register by August 2.

KFA Summer Camden Crew Classes

August 7-10, Monday-Thursday. Noon to 1 p.m.,Technique / Turning Class.

1 to 1:30 p.m. Pointe

1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Modern

2:15 to 3 p.m. Hip-Hop

3 to 4 p.m. Tap

4 to 5 p.m. Jazz

5 to 6 p.m. Ballet

6 to 6:30 p.m. Clogging

 Auditions for Camden Crew will be Thursday August 10 beginning at 7 p.m.

Each class is $70 for the summer session. Discounts are applied for multiple classes. Any dancer between the ages of 5 and 18 is eligible to audition for placement in the KFA Camden Crew Dance Company. Dancers may attend all 4 class days but must attend at least 3 class days to audition for the competitive dance team.

Art Odyssey with Cat Lloyd (ages 16 & up)

August 10, 17, 24, 31, Thursday mornings 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..

Thursday evenings 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Cost per session: $65 (materials not included).

Register by August. 

For more information about the FAC call (803) 425-7676, extension 300 or visit the FAC website at www.fineartscenter.org. The FAC is at 810 Lyttleton St. in Camden. Box office hours are Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The FAC is funded in part by the Frederick S. Upton Foundation and the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding is provided by the city of Camden, Kershaw County and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, along with donations from businesses and individuals.
