During its monthly meeting June 24, Lugoff-Elgin American Legion Post 195 presented Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) Engineer Preston Davis with its Firefighter of the Year Award for his outstanding dedication and service to the Lugoff community. Davis’ his fiancé and family, as well as numerous LF-R firefighters joined him for the award presentation at the Post 195 on Wildwood Lane in Lugoff.

“When we select a member for such an award, we look for attributes such as dedication, positive attitude, a team spirit, professionalism, and member pride towards the job; to name a few,” LF-R Chief Dennis Ray said in a press release. “Preston displays these positive attributes as well as being well-respected in the Fire House among his peers. He has the potential to be a string leader in the fire service in the near future as he continues to better himself in college and through firefighter training. It was my honor to present this year’s award to Preston for his outstanding service to our community.”
