We would like to join the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County and the entire community in thanking Kristin Cobb for her years of service with the center. Cobb, who has served as the FAC’s executive director for the last 10 years has announced she has accepted an exciting new position with the Midlands Technical College Harbison Theatre in Columbia.

Cobb, who has been involved with the FAC since she was in high school, became the center’s public relations director in 2004 and the executive director in 2007. She has certainly been able to bring a positive leadership style to the executive director position. Her local roots, her early and lifelong involvement with the center, her love of and passion for the arts combined with strong administrative skills and easy-going and effusive but resolute demeanor has been a strong rudder for the organization.

She has done an admirable job in guiding the center through some tough economic times -- she became director less than a year before the 2008 recession -- and thanks in major part to her collaborative efforts and strong leadership, the center has done better than just “hold its own.” In fact, the FAC has grown, with new physical additions as well as increasing educational program availability and attendance.

There is no question the FAC, indeed, Kershaw County, will be losing a strong and capable executive director. We are sad for us, but certainly pleased for Cobb and we thank her profusely and wish her well in her new adventure.
