Kershaw County Council will review and discuss bids for two new drain culverts as well as hold a public hearing and third and final reading of an ordinance that allows for development of a business/industrial park in conjunction with Chesterfield County.

Council will consider awarding a bid to rebuild and replace the drain culvert at Belton Road in the West Wateree area of the county. The culvert was one of two damaged by the historic flood event of Oct. 2015. The county will receive full reimbursement for this work with the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) reimbursing 75 percent of the cost and the state reimbursing 25 percent of the cost.

Council will consider awarding the contract to Site Concepts Inc., of Lugoff, who came in with the low bid of $478,00 for the Belton Road culvert.

A second culvert replacement project, also caused by the Oct. 2015 flooding event and also reimbursable by FEMA and the state, is slated for Brazell Road, also in the West Wateree area of the county. Council will consider awarding the contract for this work to CR Jackson Inc., of Columbia, who came in with a low bid of $401,500.

Kershaw County Council meets at 5:30 p.m. today in the County Government Center, 515 Walnut St., Camden. Meetings are open to the public.
