Lady Knights get past AJ in Region 4-AA opener

It took four sets but North Central opened its Region 4-AA volleyball campaign with a 3-1 win over host Andrew Jackson last Thursday night in a match played in Kershaw.

The Lady Knights (2-1, 1-0 in 4-AA) won the first two sets in the best-of-five match, 25-20 and 25-13, before the Lady Volunteers forced a fourth set by winning the third, 25-22. Andy Johnson’s squad avoided a fifth and deciding set by taking the fourth, 25-17.

Alayna Johnson led the winners at the net with 20 kills. She also had 14 digs and three service aces. Madison Dixon helped give NC a strong 1-2 presence on the front line with 16 kills, 15 digs and and  an ace. 

Aaliyah White helped get the Lady Knights’ offensive attack in gear with 33 assists to go along with 17 digs. Peyton Holley had 32 digs along with two kills, six assists and three aces while Tierra Preston had 21 digs. McKenna Arrants had five kills, three blocks, a trio of digs and two aces while Rhi Hendrix added three blocks, two assists and a kill.
