Lady Knights stay perfect in 4-AA play

North Central is off to a flying start in winning its first three Region 4-AA volleyball matches.

The Lady Knights improved to 3-0 in conference play with Tuesday’s 3-0 sweep of visiting Cheraw in the home opener inside The Castle in Boonetown. That came after breezing past Lee Central last Thursday in Bishopville.

Against Cheraw, the Lady Knights took the first set, 25-11, before winning the second, 25-16, and completing the shutout with a 25-9 victory in the finale of the best-of-five.

McKenna Arrants paced Andy Johnson’s charges at the net by sending down 10 kills. Alayna Johnson had seven kills to go along with six aces and three digs while Madison Dixon was next with four kills. She also had 13 digs and a service ace. Peyton Holley had 10 digs, five aces, three assists and a kills while Tierra Preston contributed five digs, a pair of kills and an ace. Rhi Hendrix rounded out the scoring with two kills.

NC overwhelmed Lee Central, blasting the Lady Stallions in quick order, winning 25-0, 25-3 and 25-8.

The Lady Knights took their 5-1 overall record and perfect 4-AA mark to Buford on Thursday night. They are scheduled to travel to Sumter High School on Saturday, along with Camden, to compete in the one-day Lady Gamecock Invitational.
