A funeral service to celebrate the life of Miriam Dora Atkerson Moore, 81, of Elgin, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 8, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev’s DeWitt Atkerson, Bill Dulaney and Gene Stokes will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM, Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, PO Box 798, Camden, SC 29020.

Miriam died Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born in Columbia, SC, the daughter of the late Rev. John D. Atkerson and Iva Wise Atkerson. Miriam was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Miriam enjoyed antiquing and her crafts.

Miriam is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Levi Moore; daughters, Kimberly Bradley (Daniel) of Camden, Karen Leadingham (Cisco) of Camden and Cheryl Watkins (Gary) of Lexington; son, Charles “David” Moore (Linda) of Bloomsdale, MO; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Cockrell of Lugoff, and Sandra Jackson (Charles) of Camden; brothers, Rev. DeWitt Atkerson (Helen) of Blythewood and Rev. Jimmy Atkerson (Frankie) of Camden.

Miriam was predeceased by her grandson, Kevin Miles; sisters, Annette Atkerson and Jeanie Ruth Lancaster; brothers, Marion Atkerson and Johnny Atkerson.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
