One week after having Hurricane Irma cancel the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic, the Lugoff-Elgin cross country teams competed in Saturday’s highly competitive Lake Murray Invitational. The Demons placed 43rd out of 50 teams while the L-E came in 44th out of 46 teams.

The top seven finishers for the L-E boys, in order, were Jeremy Campbell (18:26), Dylan Whitehouse (18:55), Ewan Fleck (19:01), Patrick Koeppen (19:43), Curtis Farlett (20:21), Alex Robertson (20:29) and Zander Harding (20:29).

Diana Gleaton paced the Lady Demon finishers with a clocking of 22:43. Following her to the finish line were teammates Olivia Robertson (23:08), Alicia Werden (25:40), Julie Hunter (26:11), Ashley Smith (26:37), Anna Smith (27:16) and Sarah Quinlan (28:00).

“The majority of the runners continued improving and set personal records,” said L-E head coach Matt Spolski following Saturday’s event. “It was a fast course that the runners really enjoyed competing against the top-level talent in the state.”
