Hurricane Irma may have caused the cancellation of the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic but it could not dampen the spirit of several members of the Camden High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams.

With the impending bad weather, officials made the decision to cancel the popular cross country invitational that takes place at the Sandhills Research Center every fall. Determined to provide an opportunity for Midlands teams to have a chance to race, Spring Valley High School turned the cancelled invitational into a scrimmage for local teams.

Although many Camden team members were unable to attend the scrimmage, all team members that participated in the scrimmage posted their season’s best times. The following CHS runners set new season personal records in the Spring Valley scrimmage meet:  Garrett Lawson (17:23), Sam Messinides (18:18), Grant Maree (18:56), Alex Boyce (21:59) and Josh Parker (25:27).

Shikruro Messinides represented the Lady Bulldogs with her season’s best time of 29:06.
