Today, readers may notice a short feature and photos on the front page about Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta, the truly dynamic duo behind Danny and Ron’s Rescue.

In this particular instance, Danny and Ron recently took in 19 refugees from Hurricane Harvey, rescue dogs who were flown to them from Houston, Texas. These dogs, as all of Danny and Ron’s rescues, will live a happy, stress-free life at Danny and Ron’s home here in Kershaw County until homes can be found for them.

The two started their dog rescue in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina left so many stranded animals in its wake; they have rescued and found forever homes for more than 10,000 abandoned, abused and neglected animals. In addition, they deliver pet food and help pay for veterinary care for a number of pet owners who love their animals but who find themselves pinched financially.

We would like to give a pat on the back and a heart felt thank you to Danny and Ron, who truly go way above and beyond in what they do with their rescue efforts. We would also encourage people to do what they can to help Danny and Ron -- and so many others involved in animal rescue right here in Kershaw County.

Indeed, to all who give of their time, effort, money, their very hearts, in the service of animal rescue, thank you -- it’s yet another important reason we are grateful to call Kershaw County home.
