On Thursday, Sept. 7, Danny and Ron’s Rescue (DRR) received a special delivery from Houston, Texas, at the Kershaw County Airport in east Camden. A planeload of 19 rescue dogs, surrendered by their owners in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, all safely landed and were transported to Camden Veterinary Service for full check-ups, vaccinations, heartworm tests, de-worming and microchips.

After hearing about the devastation in Texas and the desperate need to help misplaced animals, DRR immediately contacted local small rescues and shelters in the hardest hit areas to assist in rescue efforts.

Working closely with Wags, Hope and Healing, Austin Area Animal Rehabilitation and Victoria (County) Animal Control, DRR was able to rescue these 19 dogs and send back some much needed supplies such as medicine, medicated shampoos, antibiotics, vaccines, flea/tick medicines, leashes/collars, mosquito repellant, wound care dressing, and other crucial supplies.

Castle Aviation and Paramount Business Coach graciously donated a Cessna aircraft with all 12 seats removed to make room for these dogs to be relocated and find loving homes through DRR.

“Special thanks goes out to pilot Patrick Mease from Orville, Ohio, who made the rescue flight from Victoria, Texas to Camden,” DRR representatives said. “We’d like to thank all who donated to help make a difference in this endeavor!”
