The Historic Camden Foundation will host the inaugural Revolutionary Run Half Marathon on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site.

The site is located at 222 Broad Street in Camden.

The half marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. from Historic Camden and has a four-hour time limit.

The Revolutionary Run Half Marathon course includes nearly 50 of Camden’s historic properties and sites, such as the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, considered one of Robert Mills’ architectural masterpieces.

Registration is $65 per runner who signs up through today. Runners registering Saturday will be charged $75 to enter. Runners may register online at the Revolutionary Run event page at

Historic Camden will host a Happy Hour at McCaa’s Tavern for packet pick-up tonight from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. There will be live music, catered food, beer for sale, and a mini-tour of the Kershaw-Cornwallis House. The event will be open to the public for $5, or free for runners.

At the conclusion of Saturday’s race, there will be a post-event party at E. Clarkson Rhame City Arena in Camden.

The 13.1-mile race has already seen better than average registration rates with runners coming from all over the tri-state area.

“This is an exciting new event and there are so many ways for the community to get involved,” said Halie Brazier, executive director at Historic Camden. “You do not want to miss being a part of it.”

Brazier said proceeds from this event will go toward Historic Camden’s maintenance, preservation, and management of the organization’s 107 acres of historic structures and the recently-acquired 476-acre Camden Battlefield and Longleaf Pine Preserve, 8 miles north of the city.
