UWKC 7th annual Chili Cook-off slated for Oct. 21

The United Way of Kershaw County will host its seventh annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Town Green in Camden. Premier sponsors are the city of Camden, Cantey Foundation Specialists, Graham Reality and the Lugoff Automotive Group. Music will be provided by 2 For the Road throughout the event, and chili will be served from noon to 2 p.m.  

This family-friendly event includes grilled hot dogs and drinks for purchase along with face painting for children by Camden High School cheerleaders. This year’s Corn Hole Tournament will begin at noon and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Registration is $10 per team. 

Chili team registration is also underway. To register, come to the United Way office at 110 East DeKalb St. in Camden to pick up a registration form. Registration forms are also available at The registration fee is $40. Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places; People’s Choice; and Best Overall Tent.

Chili Cook-Off admission, which includes tasting and musical entertainment, is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Come out and help decide who makes the best chili in Kershaw County. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs for listening to music.
