Lady Demons top Camden to sweep the season series

What a way to go out.

Lugoff-Elgin volleyball celebrated Senior Night in style on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Camden to sweep the season series with its cross-river rival.

The Lady Demons swept Camden in their first meeting inside the Dog Pound last month.

This time around, L-E won the opening set, 25-15, before the Lady Bulldogs evened the match with a 25-15 win. The hostesses rebounded to take the third and fourth sets, 25-20 and 25-23, respectively, to extend their regular season match win streak to 10.

L-E senior Madi Campbell had a big night at the net with 10 kills. She added seven digs and had a pair of service aces. Junior hitter Sydney Ochoa had eight kills to go with six digs. Junior Sarah Turner had a strong all-around performance with 33 assists, 16 digs, seven kills and an ace.

Senior Libero Natalie Taylor had 17 digs, an assist and a kill for the winners.

Lugoff-Elgin continued its march through Region 6-4A as the Lady Demons crushed Lakewood, 25-10, 25-11 and 25-5, in a Tuesday night match in Sumter.

The 3-0 sweep gave Katie Ham and company a 7-0 conference record.

Taylor led the way for the winners at the service stripe with 11 aces. Along the net, Campbell and Bella Armstrong had six and five kills, respectively. P.A. Wells had a team-best seven digs and had three aces. 

Katie Napper added six digs while serving up four aces. Turner dished out 15 assists and had two aces while Emily Nettles added 13 assists and had a four-ace evening.
