Community art project

We are intrigued and pleased with an interesting little event coming up this week.

The Downtown Camden program is hosting a community art project at the Town Green, open to the public, from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and we hope everyone will come out and lend a creative hand.

The idea is to create a piece of art that will be hung in the alley that runs between Broad Street and the Town Green and its surrounding parking lot.

The goal of the project, funded by a grant from AARP, is to transform that alley from a nonedescript, somewhat unattractive space to something fun, quirky, beautiful and inviting.

We like this event because it seeks to further enhance the sometimes difficult to define element known as “quality of life” -- and it does so by reaching out to and for the grassroots. It’s a friendly invitation to participate in a fun beautification project that benefits all of us, but it’s also a gentle call to action -- and one that anyone can answer.

It’s good for us in all the right places.
