Happy Halloween

It’s Halloween and we at the C-I want to remind people in Camden and Kershaw County to be mindful of our little ghosts, goblins and other such critters who go bump in the night.

Whether you participate, like or even agree with Halloween and the practice of trick or treating, the fact is, it is a popular and time-honored tradition. Whether you are into it or not, the chances are strong that there will be quite a number of children dressed up in costumes and walking along the streets in your neighborhood -- and most likely during times of low visibility such as at dusk and full dark. Therefore, if you are driving, please be extra careful. Likewise, if you are out with your little ghosts, goblins and other such critters who go bump in the night, please keep a watchful eye on them.

By the same token, we would like to also gently remind everyone that some people do not care to participate in Halloween. If you don’t want to be visited, don’t fret -- just turn off the front lights in your house. Likewise, if you are out trick or treating and see a house with front and/or outside lights off, please do not go up and ring the doorbell, bang on the door or otherwise try to get anyone to come to the door, as they are clearly not interested.

As always, let’s all be courteous, use our common sense and have a safe and happy Halloween!
