We would like to congratulate the Kershaw County Fine Arts Center on the recent selection of Woody Goff as the FAC’s new permanent executive director. Goff replaces long-time FAC director Kristin Cobb, who left in July for a new opportunity with the Midlands Technical College Harbison Theater in Columbia.

We would also like to thank Rose Sheheen for stepping in and providing experienced leadership as interim director until a permanent director could be found. Transition times can be tricky and her calm demeanor and steady hand was certainly a blessing much appreciated.

And of course, we would like to congratulate Goff himself and join with everyone in welcoming him to our community.

Indeed, when you talk to Goff, you will find he is truly all about community, in every sense of the word.

Goff comes to Kershaw County and the FAC by way of Horry County, where he grew up, and by way of Columbia; he has worked with EdVenture Museum in Columbia, as well as the Children’s Museum of S.C. in Myrtle Beach. That he is a go-getter is pretty self-evident; Goff was recognized as Young Professional of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in 2016. But more recently, when he first came to Camden to interview for the position, he deliberately arrived much earlier than his interview time so he could spend a couple of hours walking around downtown Camden, meeting people, and finding out more about the FAC from the grassroots level.

So welcome to Kershaw County, Mr. Goff! We look forward to an exciting new chapter in the story that is the FAC and our community.
