Health Foundation of KC awards $132,000 in grant funds

The Health Foundation of Kershaw County (HFKC) has awarded a record level of funding for its third distribution cycle. Recipients for this cycle represent a wide variety of health initiatives in Kershaw County and include Cassatt Fire Department, Food for the Soul, the Community Medical Center, Kershaw County School District, the Health Services District and the Family Resource Center. 

As a result of these grants, Cassatt Fire Department will purchase four Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Food for the Soul will purchase one AED, the Community Medical Center will purchase needed equipment and medication, Kershaw County School District will include a violence prevention and compassion education program utilizing dogs for high-risk youth at 3 county schools, the Health Services District will replace mattresses for its facility and the Family Resource Center will be able to fund Project H.O.P.E. (Healing, Outreach, Prevention, Education) to provide specialized mental health treatment services.

Since the first distribution cycle, the HFKC has distributed a total of almost $380,000 toward advancing healthcare for the citizens of Kershaw County.  

Grants will be distributed on Monday, Nov. 20, at 5:30pm at McCaa’s Tavern at Historic Camden.
