The Camden Lions Club would like to thank all of our underwriters from many businesses and individual donations with our project – Candy day. This money collected helps countless people who need assistance with eyeglasses and an exam in Kershaw County.

Candy Day is planned to aid Lions’ projects. Work with the blind and sight conservation has been a major activity of the Lions Clubs since the earliest days of Lionism. 2017 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Lions Clubs.

When you see a blind person being guided through pedestrian or automobile traffic by a guide dog, you may be reasonably sure that Lions support the school which trained both the dog and his sightless master.

In one typical year, the Lions of the world report almost 100,000 projects dealing directly with service to the blind or the prevention of blindness. In an effort to further the work of the Lions in South Carolina, Lion Vision Services helps lions support their sight conservation projects. This project, usually held in the month of October, is called “Candy Day.”

Candy Day took place on two weekends in October. Wal-Mart and the Piggly Wiggly have graciously given our club permission to be there. Candy mints are given out to the public for a donation for this worthy cause. All money collected will go back into your community and South Carolina. Lion clubs provide eye exams and eyeglasses to people who qualify to receive them.

The Camden Lions Club will be hosting a pancake breakfast at Fatz Café Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tickets are to be sold by the Camden Lions Club members or at the door. The cost is $7 per person. The breakfast will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit and bread. Lions will serve your family and friends. Please come join us.
