Camden Group Realty currently has six agents with the firm, including (from left) Liz Beard, Kim Forrest, Brian Melton, Nancy Thornton, Karon Brinson and Alane Vinson.

The Camden Group is not just up and running – the new real estate firm is thriving.

The firm, which formed in December 2016, recently moved into a new office on West DeKalb Street in Camden.

“It’s been a long time coming and a work in progress,” Broker Brian Melton said. “We have a great group of folks and we are really growing. We’re very excited to have local presence again – we believe it’s important to us as real estate professionals, but it’s also very important to the community.”

The Camden Group was created by several long-time area real estate professionals, a number of whom had worked with two long-time Midlands area firms, Camden office of Russell and Jeffcoat and with Coldwell Banker. Russell and Jeffcoat ceased operations after founding partner Bob Russell passed away in 2015; the company was later sold to Coldwell Banker, which no longer has an active office in Camden.

“Out of that was born the need by many local real estate agents to have a local presence here in Camden again,” Melton said. “Most of our people have serviced this area for many, many years.”

The firm itself offers agents a number of services to help them with their business, Melton said. Consequently, those agents, equipped with their knowledge of the market and the business and a strong support system in house, bring a powerful level of service to their clients.

It’s a definite win/win business model for the agents and the clients they serve, Melton said.

“The company was created by agents, for agents,” he said. “We are big on agent support. We do a lot of marketing and have a great platform to effectively advertise globally.”

Most important, they support and help each other, he said.

Thus far, the agency has helped people sell more than 34 homes for a total of more than $8 million, Melton said.

“The average home selling price in Kershaw County is around $140,000; our company’s average selling price is $220,000,” he said. “That’s been good for us that we’ve been able to move more of the higher end properties – and it’s ultimately good for everyone.”

Currently, the Camden Group has six agents, including Melton, Liz Beard, Kim Forrest, Nancy Thornton, Karon Brinson and Alane Vinson. Most of the firm’s business is local to Camden and Kershaw County, Melton said.

The Camden Group is located at 2039 W. DeKalb Street. For more information call (803) 999-5151 or go to www.camdengrouprealty.com.
