Get ready to enjoy a fun-filled day complete with holiday festivities and heaping helpings of homemade catfish stew.

One of the most looked forward to holiday events in Kershaw County, the Elgin Catfish Stomp festival, returns for its 42nd year on December 2 in the town of Elgin’s Potter Community Park. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at Bowen Street and ends at Greenhill Road in Elgin.

In addition to the parade, the festival will feature a wide variety of family-oriented events and activities, including carnival with rides and bouncy houses, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, live entertainment and more.

The signature catfish stew will be available in pints and quarts for sale at the Potter Community Park picnic shelter after the parade. In addition, vendors selling funnel cakes, corn dogs, ribbon fries, wood fired pizza, and more as well as arts and crafts vendors will be on site. Live entertainment will be provided by local bands, dance troupes, the Blaney Elementary, Doby’s Mill Elementary, and Lugoff-Elgin High school choruses and more.
